Sarah woke up early on a sunny morning, feeling surprisingly rested despite the emotional turmoil of the past few days. She got up and went to the kitchen, where she found a note from Mike.
"Sarah, I hope you're doing okay. I know this is all still fresh, but I wanted to apologize again. I'm truly sorry for what happened, and I hope someday you can forgive me. Sincerely, Mike."
Sarah sighed as she read the note. It was clear that Mike was still struggling with the guilt of the accident, and she wasn't sure if she could ever forgive him. She made herself some coffee and sat down at the kitchen table, deep in thought.
Suddenly, she heard a voice behind her. "Good morning, Sarah."
Startled, Sarah turned around to see Tommy's ghost standing in the doorway.
"Tommy! You scared me. What are you doing here?" Sarah asked.
"I came to see you, of course. How are you holding up?" Tommy asked, smiling.
"I'm okay, I guess. It's been tough, but I'm managing," Sarah replied.
"That's good to hear. I know it's hard, but I'm always here for you," Tommy said, walking over to sit next to her at the table.
Sarah smiled sadly, knowing that Tommy's ghost was the only thing she had left of her beloved husband. "I appreciate that. But what are we going to do about Mike? He's still haunted by what happened, and I don't know how to help him."
"I know, Sarah. And I feel for him, I really do. But I can't stop haunting him until he truly learns his lesson. He needs to forgive himself, and he needs to make things right with you and the kids," Tommy said, his expression serious.
"But how can he make things right? He can't bring you back," Sarah said, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I don't know, Sarah. But maybe there's something he can do to honor my memory, to make sure that my legacy lives on. You know how much baseball meant to me. Maybe he could do something in my honor, to show that he's truly sorry," Tommy suggested.
Sarah nodded, deep in thought. "That's not a bad idea. I'll think about it. But in the meantime, can't you please stop haunting him? He's suffering so much."
"I'll think about it, Sarah. But I can't promise anything. I'm doing this for our family, to make sure that we're safe," Tommy replied.
Sarah sighed, knowing that Tommy's ghost was stubborn and determined. She finished her coffee and got up to start her day, still lost in thought about how to move forward.
As she walked out of the kitchen, she felt a strange sense of peace wash over her. It was as if Tommy's ghost had lifted a weight off her shoulders, and she felt lighter and more hopeful than she had in days. She knew that Tommy was still with her, watching over her and their children from beyond the grave. And she knew that, somehow, they would all find a way to heal from this tragedy.
