Chapter 7: The Confession

After their first date, Emma and Josh started spending more time together. They went on walks, watched movies, and talked for hours about their shared passions and beliefs. Emma felt a growing sense of connection with Josh, and she knew that she was falling for him.

One evening, as they sat on Emma's couch, Emma found herself unable to concentrate on the movie they were watching. She kept stealing glances at Josh, trying to work up the courage to tell him something important.

Finally, as the credits began to roll, Emma turned to Josh and took a deep breath.

"Josh, I have to tell you something," she said, her voice shaking a little.

"What is it?" Josh asked, his expression gentle and attentive.

Emma took a deep breath and reached for the wooden box that held Sarah's journal. She had been carrying it with her since the night she found it on the altar, and now she knew that it was time to share it with Josh.

"I found this journal in the church a few weeks ago," Emma said, holding out the box. "It belonged to Sarah, the woman who founded this church. I've been reading it, and… it's been changing my life."

Josh looked intrigued as he took the box from Emma's hands. He opened it and peered inside, his eyes widening as he saw the old leather-bound journal.

"Wow," he said, his voice soft with awe. "This is amazing, Emma. I had no idea."

"I know," Emma said, feeling a little embarrassed. "I didn't want to say anything until I was sure how I felt about it. But the more I read, the more I feel like… like Sarah is speaking directly to me. Like she's guiding me on my own spiritual journey."

Josh looked at Emma with a deep sense of understanding. "I get it," he said. "I feel the same way about the Bible. It's like… when I read it, I feel like God is speaking directly to me. It's amazing, isn't it?"

Emma nodded, feeling a rush of relief and joy. She had been afraid that Josh would think she was weird or overly spiritual, but instead, he seemed to understand her in a way that no one else ever had.

"I'm so glad I told you," Emma said, leaning her head against Josh's shoulder. "I feel like… like we're really connecting, you know?"

Josh put his arm around Emma's shoulder and held her close. "I feel it too," he said, his voice soft and warm. "Emma, I think you're amazing. I feel so lucky to have you in my life."

Emma felt a rush of emotion as she looked up at Josh. She knew that this was just the beginning of their journey together, and she felt more grateful than ever to have found someone who understood her so deeply.
