Chapter 3: Christmas Preparations

The next week, Rufus picked Junia up for their second date. They decided to spend the day baking Christmas cookies and decorating a tree. Junia felt a sense of warmth and happiness as they worked together, laughing and chatting.

As they rolled out the cookie dough, Junia couldn't help but feel grateful for this new relationship. Rufus had a calming presence, and she felt like she could be herself around him.

As they decorated the tree, Rufus put on some Christmas music, and they sang along to the carols. Junia felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, and she was starting to let go of the past.

Later that night, as they sat by the fire with mugs of hot chocolate, Junia opened up to Rufus about her past relationship. She told him about her ex-boyfriend, who had cheated on her and shattered her trust.

Rufus listened intently, his eyes locked on hers. When she finished, he took her hand.

"I'm sorry that happened to you," he said. "But I promise you, Junia, I will never hurt you like that. I care about you too much."

Junia felt tears prick at the corner of her eyes. She leaned in, and Rufus wrapped his arms around her. They sat like that for a while, enjoying each other's company and the warmth of the fire.

As Rufus drove Junia home that night, she felt a sense of hope for the future. Maybe she had found someone who could help her heal from the past and move forward.
